What we are and what we do
Welcome to Bad Luck art group, we are a really new group, this is a group dedicated to portray or showcase the works of the members and comment on their works constructively, pointing out their mistakes. Letting them know their weak spots, or the part where they need to improve upon, and also their strengths, or what they are good at. Everyone can join this community, you can send us any of your works and we would be posting them as soon as we receive them (but please give us some time, I can’t go online everyday), for sending entries refer on <how to send for that>, you can submit your works, we accept all works be it fan-art or OC’s/ original characters <refer to rules for guidelines>. We also hold contests to expose those who are really good in a certain field or topic, as much as possible, we like to keep in contact with all the group members so we will frequently note everyone. This is an active group, we work all year round, we also publish or works during cons and we sell them there, so this is kinda like an indie organization too :) So those exemplary works, they may be included in the future publishing projects of the group, of course you will be personally notified first and we will be asking for your permission.
-Please be aware that your works can/may be re-produced by us, but rest assured you will be credited for your works :D You will also receive your own copy of the book as a reward, and/or when I learn how to send cash, I’ll be sending you your share (though I’m still 15 and I think I have to wait 3 more years!?). Join us, those interested, the strong hearted (for the painful comments) the talented (to get exposed and rcognized) and those who simply want to draw (for the perfection of their craft).

NEXT PAGE RULES

:bulletpurple: :bulletpurple: :bulletpurple: :bulletpurple: :bulletpurple: :bulletpurple:
Rules, Regulations and Policies (Here is where we get serious)
<REVISED>
-Upon joining the group please immediately add the group to your journal signatures or entries so that we may advertise the club. Also immediately watch the group so that everyone would be aware of what is happening in the group.
-Try to be active, as much as possible send us lots of quality made works, and not just a quickly drawn (then inked/ colored) without effort works, (besides if you send these types of works and we post it you will seriously get criticized for it.
-Always place a warning on the front page whenever you are dealing with a delicate topic. Like religious stuff, shounen-ai/shoujo-ai/yaoi/yuri, for these topics are really sensitive. Not everyone has accepted these types of stories. Though we doubt that we will ever release anything that hardcore. Never ever forget to place the warning sign, failure means a penalty point. (For those who plan on editing the works to be released.)
-Please if you ever decide to leave the group please notify us at. Message us so that we will not be left hanging, waiting for a project that will never be done, so please do us a favor and notify us. (though we hope that no one would leave)
-We will be posting all of your submitted works here, once we have received them. Please be patient, because, uploading may take a while. Send us your works, with a maximum of three links per message, please I’m dying here (Slow internet damn you!)
-All the works that you intend on submitting for the artbook/fanbook should all be properly CG’ed, think about it, traditional art is good and all but if you were to scan it then print it, the quality of the work will obviously decrease (let’s be honest people.) If you are to submit a lineart please follow-up the finished one soon.
-All posted works here are expected to be criticized brutally and mercilessly, you should be honest in judging the work, but also be aware that you should judge the work critically and not through personal biased-ness. Just because one of your works received a “No, it doesn’t pass my criteria”, you would say no to all of that person’s works. Also, artwork choosing will be done through voting (majority always win).
-Like I always say from my previous journals please don’t draw your characters –toot- and –toot-. Please be aware that children might see those works. I personally also don’t want to see them.
-Also, yes I have told everyone to criticize the works but please, also take into consideration the feelings of the artist who made them. Let’s not make are criticisms blunt and frank, let us take time to explain what we think about the work and point out their mistakes kindly. Keep in mind that we are human beings. And at our very essence we are imperfect. It is only natural to find imperfection in what we do. So play nice people :) don’t be too mean.
-You can send fan arts of different characters, they may be from games/shows or whatever, heck they can even be from those nicely made hentai/yaoi/yuri game characters (I personally like their character designs :) ). You can also send your OC’s (Original Characters), here, let us not restrict ourselves from already drawn characters, show them that we have enough creativity (and/or talent) to create our own character, but please like I always say, make them good.

-With all these rules please be guided, also even though were quite restricted don’t make these rules a hindrance for your improvement. While you’re with us, “draw lots, meet lots and experience lots!”

VERY IMPORTANT STUFF:

-Our first project will be printed for November 17 2007 Komicon, please send all your works, on or before October 30 2007. We will be printing and reproducing all the works by November, so please be guided. (We will send you a note if ever your work has been chosen to be included in the art book, do your uber best everyone!)

-All contests are open to members only. The prize? Well it will be featured and printed on the upcoming release on November 17. So work hard for your work to be chosen. Also you will receive a free fan/artbook publication after the Komicon 07 event. (If ever you are present at the event.)

-The art/fan book name has not yet been decided, people comment on the name that you want for the project release. I am going to decide afterwards the chose name for the art/fan book. This is really important because I am going to send the titles that we are going to sell at komicon, for confirmation and reservation.

ALSO IMPORTANT BUT NOT AS IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
-If ever you decide to make a project, or in other words a title, kindly inform us first, so that we may record your activities and that we may assign people to work with you (unless you prefer to be on you own.) if you decide to do everything, you still have to inform us.
-Publishing or Xerox fees shall be taken from the main artist of the title and everyone within the artist’s group (temporarily) until we gain enough cash to Xerox it with our group funds. Whatever money we take, we return. (Unless that you prefer that the group will shoulder the amounts 100% and you wont have to pay a single centavo, but in return, all the income of that said project will be given to the group and not to you. I know it’s sad.)
-Never and I mean never show our raw and unfinished projects to outsiders and to those people who aren’t members of our group. (read rules and regulations for more information.) This rule only applies to those who intend to do a doujin work. It should be sent personally and cannot be posted on Deviant Art, only the front page of the doujin can be showcased. PM me if you have any questions which regards to this topic.
-I, Rio, shall manage all money/cash. I’ll be the group’s acting business manager until we find somebody who is trustworthy enough to let them handle the group funds.

-Don’t be ashamed to ask for help. Just be sure to thank them and notify us whenever you need some assistance. Group contacts shall be given after joining the group. Or I’ll be noting everyone with the group contacts and the members e-mail address for easy and convenient PM’ing.
-I will also put up a chat room for the group, I will notify everyone when the chatroom would be online, and also the time when everyone can talk/chat/spam in the room. Look forward to it coz I sure am excited :D.

WANTED SECTION :
-Artists
When it comes to artists, we classify them into two groups. One is the “Doujin” group and the other is the “Original” group. Doujin artists are people who are more comfortable (or better) when drawing characters that already exist. While Original artists excel in drawing their own unique characters. Artists are required to at east submit three artworks whenever the group decides to release an art book. If ever you decide to release a title, be sure to notify at east one of the three core members in order for us to assign you a team (also notify us if you plan on doing it on you own with no help from the other members.) You are also not required to ink your works if you’re not comfortable in inking (we have inkers for that.)
Note: All artists shall be notified whenever the group decides to release an artbook. All artworks should be publishing quality and not just a quickly drawn sketch. In order to maintain the quality of our works, whenever there is an artbook release, there shall be a meeting to decide if your artwork is qualified to be included in the project (or if it’s astounding enough to grace the front page.)
- Background Artists
We currently need a lot of this. Bg artists are really hard to find. When given a project you will always work with a group (or with an artist at least.) You will be particularly active when there are manga/ doujin releases, for you will work with your assigned group. Also we don’t mind if you use references or pictures (it makes the background more realistic, which is good.)
-Inkers
Inkers should always be ready and can be easily contacted. Inkers, compared to everyone else would be the busiest because almost every project, Inkers will always be needed. We prefer that you’d use unipins point 0.1, 0.3, 0.5 and 0.8, because compared to other brands, this brand is more sturdy and it also lasts long (but if you’re more comfortable using other brands and points we don’t really mind as long as the results are good and consistent. When inking, all you’re lines must be confident and precise (no errors please, think about the artist). The deadline for inking once the project is received is as follows:
32-36 pages 2 weeks (non-negotiable)
40- above 1 month (negotiable)
note: The group shall not provide the pens. In the beginning while you build up your rep with us, you will use your own materials, but if we see you active enough and your works are noticeably superior we will provide you with pens whenever you ran out of ink (it will be taken from the group budget.)
-Printers
Printers must own a printer (well duh!?) and have their own e-mail address. Don’t worry every time a project is printed using your own printer and ink, the group shall replace the ink that has been used (so don’t worry about the ink expenses) You shall only print projects that was given directly to you from us (which means that we will send you a project through e-mail) Don’t print anything that we didn’t send (or else we wont pay for the ink.) Also whenever you print a project always place it in a clear book or organizer, it should be arranged page by page. Deadline for printers once the project is received is as follows:
32-36 pages 1 week (non-negotiable)
40- above 1-2 weeks (non-negotiable)
Message us after printing and we will personally pick it up from you (arrange an appointment at least a day before, and it must always be on weekends or legal holidays. The place meeting venue shall be decide after).
note: the money that will be used for the replacement of the ink shall be deducted from our group budget and not directly from us (isn’t that convenient?)
-Scanners
Scanners must have their own scanner (again duh!?) and their own e-mail address. Never scan a project that we ourselves didn’t personally handed to you. Scanners must then save the file in a jpeg format, and then it should be e-mailed to us directly. Here is how you must save the file. File name:
-original manga
origmanga/title of the manga/pageno/nameofscanner.jpeg (no spaces)
-doujinshins
doujin/title of doujin/pageno/nameofscanner.jpeg (no spaces)
-artbook
artbook/artworkno/nameofartist/nameofscanner.jpeg (no spaces)
Deadline for scanners once the project is received are as follows:
32-36 pages 4-5 days (non-negotiable)
40-above pages 1 week (non-negotiable)
-Typesetters
We are currently not in urgent need of a typesetter, but if you’re exceptionally good, we could accept you. Typesetters shall only receive projects directly form us and from no one else. You’re job is to type in the words in the speech bubble, you shall not be responsible for the sound effects. Also you shall not edit the works, whatsoever. You’re basic font shall always be Anime Ace. After typing in the words you shall save it with the proper file name:
-original manga
origmanga/title of the manga/pageno/nameoftypesetter.jpeg (no spaces)
-doujinshins
doujin/title of doujin/pageno/nameoftypesetter.jpeg (no spaces)
-artbook
artbook/artworkno/nameofartist/nameoftypesetter.jpeg (no spaces)
Deadline for typesetters are as follows:
32-36 pages 1 week (negotiable)
40-above pages 1 1/2 week (negotiable)
-Computer Editors
CE’s must have their own computers at home, equipped with Adobe Photoshop ver. 5 and above and/or Open Canvas ver. 2. Computer Editors shall be responsible for cleaning and re-paneling of artworks/ mangas/doujins. CE’s must also know how to color through Photoshop, because CE’s are the ones who always color the front, and back page of every project. Editing will be the most difficult job of all. When editing doujins/mangas the main artist/ artists should always be there. They shall also only receive projects directly from us. After editing the file name is as follows:
-original manga
origmanga/title of the manga/pageno/editor.png (no spaces)
-doujinshins
doujin/title of doujin/pageno/nameofeditor.png (no spaces)
-artbook
artbook/artworkno/nameofartist/nameofeditor.png (no spaces)
After editing it should be sent to us directly. Deadlines for editors are as follows:
32-36 pages 1 month (negotiable)
40-above pages 1 1/2 month (negotiable)
*depending on the difficulty of the project.
